The Beatles, or the White Album

Critical opinion on The Beatles (also known as the 'White Album') in 1968 varies, with some viewing the record as something of a comedown after the exhilaration of its somewhat overrated predecessor, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Additionally, conventional wisdom holds that The Beatles marks the beginning of the end for the Lennon/McCartney partnership.
